Chambers
College: Ithaca College
Major: Business Administration
I am a Jamaican born, hard working, strong willed, outspoken, 18 year old who always keeps education in the forefront of all my endeavors. I am the middle child to a wonderful single parent who has done her best to give me the essential things that I need in life, but just like many others in this day and age, she is a struggling single parent. Growing up watching her persevere despite hardships, has molded me into the young woman I am today and has given me the drive to pursue my dreams to the full despite financial challenges. She has been my motivator and back bone as a first generation college attendee. My faith in God, and all that he has done and continues to do for me, has been an anchor and a stronghold as I strive to strike a reasonable balance between school, studying, working part time, and maintaining an active role in my community. I am eager to learn, discover, and be taught. As a result of my outspoken nature, I enjoy being the voice of those who are often times overlooked or unappreciated. It brings me great joy to know that I can bring happiness and or comfort to others and it has often times been a ray of sunshine on my darkest days. It is, and has been, my dream to graduate college with my bachelor's degree, and show others just like me that regardless of where you come from, or what you have been through, your life is ultimately a result of hard work or the lack there of. For me success is not a far fetched dream, rather it is, with hard work, perseverance, and strength, an attainable and reasonable reality. I look forward to the time when I can give back in a big way by giving others opportunities such as the one's that help me to achieve my dreams.
