Jennifer Glen -College is the Stepping stone to an optimistic future

Jennifer Glen-2012 As my second semester here at Eastern Nazarene College located in Quincy, Massachusetts it has been an immense blessing. I have had the opportunity to grow spiritually and academically. I advise incoming college students to be prepared to do a good amount of work and studying. As a pre-med major, work is almost non-stop. However, it is rewarding afterwards. Due to my consistency throughout my first semester I made it on the Dean’s list. Also do not take weekends to just hang out, party or do irrelevant things. College goes at a fast pace unlike high school. Most likely you will have exams every other week, depending on how many classes you are taking and the level of difficulty. ALWAYS be on top of your work. I usually read ahead on the weekends when I have free time. Since I have a syllabus for each class I know what is ahead of my workload. In order to have an organized schedule I plan ahead. In addition always give in all types of assignments on time. In college professors do not condone lateness and require for students to always attend class. Missing class will side track you and will be very difficult to get ahead of the game. Most importantly, take all the academic opportunities you can. Whether there are office hours of your professors for extra help, free tutoring or any supplemental instruction. Overall ONE main thing I have never forgotten about it, is thanking and praying to my Lord to keep me grounded, determined to become Dr. Glen in the near future. Just remember that with God everything is possible. Whenever you are going through a stressful week, full of homework, papers and exams, always keep in mind that God is there with you along your side. These are my favorite bible verses that are helping me throughout this journey:  Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Have a blessed day,

Jennifer Glen
